The newly formed and self appointed “Yadkin Riverkeeper” is misguided when it comes to the issue of relicensing of Alcoa’s four lakes.
In a release April 7, 2009 the Riverkeeper stated ...
"Pollution problems in all four reservoirs are a result of putting impoundments in the Yadkin River the first place".
That’s so typical of the negative thinking of some folks who appoint themselves environmentalists and are against about everything.
Tell the Riverkeeper folks you appreciate High Rock, Badin, and the other Yadkin lakes for the benefits they offer the region.
Further, tell the Riverkeeper you would appreciate them working on pollution dischargers upstream of High Rock to improve our water quality, and stop interfering in the Relicensing process that is endorsed by the High Rock Lake Association.
Our guess is the Riverkeeper got a contribution from the same Stanly County interests fighting Alcoa for the Yadkin River Lakes.
